Clyde F. Brooks, Jr. and his wife Carrie F. Brooks were the first African American owners of a Vault and Monument Company in New Jersey. They founded the business in 1967 in Jefferson and relocated to 203 Sherman Avenue in Newark, New Jersey, in 1968, where the company continues to operate today.
The legacy lives on today through the leadership of their sons, Clyde F. Brooks, III and Christopher A. Brooks, along with Senior Operator Avery Hill and the dedicated support staff.
